Roberson Law: empathetic legal defense in the Last Frontier

Cowork by RSD member John H. Roberson III, Principal Attorney at Roberson Law, remembers well the day he knew it was time to open his own criminal defense firm in Anchorage, Alaska. He didn’t have an “ah-ha moment,” he had an “oh no, not again” moment.

An international background

Roberson was a military child born in Frankfurt, Germany. He spent much of his youth in Belgium and graduated from high school in Seoul, South Korea.

Following a tour in the Air Force, Roberson attended the University of Alaska Anchorage. He majored in political science, and later earned a master’s degree in public administration.

Roberson won his first DUI case while studying at the University of Oregon School of Law. He spent his summers in Alaska, interning with the Office of Public Advocacy. After graduating, Roberson returned to Anchorage and was an assistant public defender and an assistant public advocate.

The “Oh no, not again” moment

One day, Roberson found himself saying, “Oh no, not again!” after witnessing yet another defendant “struggle to find genuine, passionate legal representation. I realized I could be that change.

“I needed the freedom to defend clients in the best way I saw fit. The vision? A law firm where clients feel heard and supported throughout their legal journey—a legal practice where empathy meets expertise.”

In 2022, “Fueled by an indomitable spirit,” Roberson opened Roberson Law in Anchorage. He specializes in DUI and criminal defense, and “in turning legalese into plain English while fighting for our clients.”

A typical case for Roberson Law

Clients at Roberson Law can count on Roberson’s experience and legal expertise. Recently, he took on a convoluted case with long odds against his client.

“Our client, caught in a legal bind, was facing seemingly insurmountable DUI charges. Through a combination of investigation and extensive courtroom experience, we not only untangled the case but secured a verdict that pleased my client.”

Roberson understands the challenge of seeking justice in the Last Frontier. “We use technology to reach and stay in contact with our clients no matter where they are in Alaska,” he says. “We use modern and robust software to ensure the privacy of our clients’ data. Finally, we value the challenge of DUI defense.”

Coworking makes sense for Roberson Law

Roberson has really settled into coworking at Cowork by RSD. He never misses an opportunity to recognize the coworking community, including our community manager.  “Marnie is wonderful. She’s vibrant and keeps us all in line. She was the first person I met when I walked in the door, and I appreciate her hospitality. I’ve met good folks here who care about the work they do. I like the flexible rental terms, too. I highly recommend Cowork by RSD!”

More than legal defense

Roberson relishes the opportunity to educate the community. “If there’s anything else you’re curious about—whether it’s the intricacies of Alaskan law or just more about what makes Roberson Law tick—feel free to drop us a line. We’re not just here to navigate the legal system; we’re here to make your experience as seamless (and, yes, as enjoyable) as possible.
